Profile Information

About Me
I am a trustee for 350 Aotearoa and actively involved with the national team, I also help out with the website and online campaign as well as looking after the finances.

When I'm not working on 350 I help out with Intersect, run a web development business and am involved with a few start-up companies.

All my work for 350 is on a volunteer basis and I don't receive (or plan to) any financial remuneration.
Areas of Interest & Expertise
I've been building websites for a fair while now (ruby on rails, php) and have been spending a lot of time on social and environmental issues for the past 2 years.

I am interested in new ways of organising and figuring out how to best use online collaboration to change the world.

Dave raises some interesting arguments for big marches in the lead up to Copenhagen. I agree - this is an essential tool to convince the decision makers to do the right thing and adopt the right attitude at the negotiations. I've heard Key over and…

Below is some info from paul bruce about a response to climate change from the wellington regional council and it sounds like now would be a good time to make our voices heard in the council. Anyone have energy for this? cheers, Joshua http://gw.g

We've been throwing some ideas around for funding future 350 activities in the and I think we've found something pretty exciting which we'd love some feedback on. Simple form: ask for people to setup small monthly automatic payments tagged with the…

Hi Joshua,

We have a spammer who is sending the message below to every member on this site. FAVOR has appeared on about 20 of our other sites and I have banned and deleted her membership. I strongly suggest that you set the site to require approval of new members so we can trap this nonsense....

Kia Ora Josh

It's great to have this site, so thanks!

I'm wondering if there's a way we can upload useful documents for 350 people to use?

Cheers,
Rhylie

Lessons from 350

Well that's been a pretty consuming 6 months, but boy was it fun.

Starting out at just one meeting every tuesday night in may, my commitments to 350 Aotearoa steadily evolved to building the website (naturally), maintaining the facebook and twitter accounts, registering a new charity, serving as trustee, volunteer recruitment and looking after the finances (I love xero). The crunch was having my office invaded - 6 people in a… Continue

Campaign Updates: September 09

Woah, what a month - and I was thinking it would be quite too! As usual this is just a list of things that I am aware of so feel free to post up with anything that was missed.

The Logan Brown competition went off!
- Ashlee and the wellington crew did a fantastic job on the Logan Brown competition

- Total entrants to date are ~3200 with 1200 opting in to our ne… Continue

http://www.3news.co.nz/Key-and-Smith-wont-budge-on-climate-change-despite-protests/tabid/316/articleID/122015/cat/790/Default.aspx - we were stoked to see the 350 logo so prominently displayed.

We had maybe 200 people at the event phoning parliament and our… Continue

Sign up sheets

If you're running a stall or talking about 350 it's really important to make it easy for people to get involved in the campaign - one of the simplest ways of doing this is having a signup sheet for people to right their email address on.

http://community.350.org.nz/forum/attachment/download?id=3868261%3AUploadedFi35%3A1079 is a template from the global team which you can use - if… Continue
